Joining a space where individuals from various corners of the globe gather simply to converse—sincerely, candidly, and aiming to grasp one another—is both thrilling and somewhat daunting. It’s not an occurrence that takes place frequently in everyday life, as most discussions remain within known groups. Thus, the concept of being part of a group where each individual contributes their unique background, culture, and perspective feels like a unique chance.
What is most notable is the opportunity to truly listen—genuinely listen—not just to reply or argue, but to comprehend someone’s perspective. It’s simple to become trapped in a bubble without even being aware of it. This seems like a method to step beyond that, to encounter other individuals’ truths without biases or news in the way. Simultaneously, such vulnerability can pose difficulties. At times, there’s a reluctance—concern about how ideas may be viewed, or if a thought is “satisfactory enough” to express. However, this seems like an environment where it’s acceptable not to possess all the answers, provided that the effort to participate is sincere.
More than anything, there’s a hope to grow—intellectually, emotionally, maybe even ethically. Not in a dramatic way, but through small shifts: noticing a bias, rethinking a belief, appreciating a viewpoint that would have been easy to dismiss before. That kind of learning stays with you. And if even a few of those shifts happen through this program, it’ll be more than worthwhile i
