The VIA survey gave me these as my top strengths:

  1. Honesty: Speaking the truth but more broadly presenting oneself in a genuine way and acting in a sincere way; being without pretense; taking responsibility for one’s feelings and actions.
  2. Fairness: Treating all people the same according to notions of fairness and justice; not letting feelings bias decisions about others; giving everyone a fair chance.
  3. Prudence: Being careful about one’s choices; not taking undue risks; not saying or doing things that might later be regretted.
  4. Kindness: Doing favors and good deeds for others; helping them; taking care of them.
  5. Judgement: Thinking things through and examining them from all sides; not jumping to conclusions; being able to change one’s mind in light of evidence; weighing all evidence fairly.

IKIGAI

What I love: I love spending time with friends and family, and I love travelling and exploring nature.

I am good at: I am good at programming and software development.

What the world needs: The world needs to slow down. What I mean by that is I think the world would genuinely be a much better place if everyone was able to take a minute before rushing to judgement of every aspect of life.

Game Ideas

After putting everything so far into ChatGPT, it gave me a list of various interesting ideas. The following 2 ideas are combinations of a few of the ideas suggested into something I find more interesting.

1. The Life of a Palestinian Journalist

We all know the details about what’s happening in Palestine thanks to journalists that live there. Journalists there are always facing difficult decisions, between trying to report what’s happening, trying to avoid attacks targeted directly at them, finding food in a place cut off from supplies, and even interactions with other people. There are so many directions this can go and different ethical and life-saving dilemmas that could be explored.

2. Social Media AI Ethics

Aside from the entertainment side, social media now plays a huge role in international politics. This game would focus on the manager of the suggestion algorithm in a big social media company. The algorithms used in social media are created by people, and therefore they will always have a bias towards certain kinds of content. This is a great area to explore as there are many ethical dilemmas about censorship, bias, and managing millions of people who have completely different views on the same topics. This game could focus on how social media can manage the freedom of its users with their ethical obligations and moral dilemmas.

After writing this blogpost, I’ve noticed that I have had a consistent mention of judgement and ethical dilemmas. This can be seen everywhere from the balance in my VIA results between Judgement and Prudence and the other results (Honesty, Fairness, and Kindness), in some of my Ikigai answers, and especially in the topics of my game ideas. After giving it some thought, I really think that the VIA results did accurately get some of the traits I find the most important in my day to day life.
