Reflection:
- The first topic I took the test on was age and my result was that I had a strong preference for young people over old people. This was expected because I am a young person, therefore I would have a greater connection to people my age compared to people who are far older than me.
- The second topic I took the test on was weight and my result was that I had a strong preference for thin people over young people. This was expected because I noticed this bias that I had in me that respected people more than put in time and effort to be fit which gave me a glimpse at their discipline levels.
IAT Validity:
After some research on the validity of the Implicit Association Test by Harvard, it is evident that there is some truth to the test that can help emphasize implicit bias and certain discrimination against a group of people. However, the test is not 100% accurate and its use in legal settings is considered to be controversial because of the possibility of misinterpretation.
