“TimeON” Final Draft – Game Reflection
This TimeON game consists of 10 scenarios that have been developed according to my personal experience in 5 years studying Mechanical Engineering at the American University in Cairo. I finalized the first draft of the game and then played the game with my friends in order to see their reaction to the scenarios, and how they interacted with the presented answer in the choices.
TimeON major scenarios games test the player’s ability to cope between work and studying which is the same case as mine right now. I am working right now as a part time job in Procter & Gamble [P&G] as Supply Chain Manager Intern, while managing my studies, and thesis graduation project within uni timing. Therefore, I wanted to share the challenges that I have been through in some situations that have tested my ability to handle both work, and studying, and in some specidic scenarios were actually testing my work, and study ethics with my professors, and my managers.
In this final draft of my digital game (TimeON), I am trying to integrate the feedback and comments given by my classmates, and Prof. Maha. A negative feedback was that the game scenarios were not as long as it should be. So, what I did is having nested scenarios for at least two times, and I made sure that each nested scenario has three choices that the player can choose from, which will lead to another three ones. Each final answer had a comprehensive feedback that elaborate whether the answer chosen by the player is actually good/balanced/ethical enough or not, and if not, what should have been chosen. In addition, while playing the game with my friends, one of them mentioned what if we have chosen the second option, what would be the consequence , so I decided to add a back button so that the player might want to see (what if situation) I have chosen another path in the scenario what could have been the consequence right now.
I have been struggling with this specific semester due to multiple new challenges facing me at the same time. Therefore, “TimeON” game was a very healthy way to reflect upon how difficult it is for some of us to deal with scenarios that are out of our hands and might have no way to be out of it in a very positive way. Building this game is such an experience that taught me that negatives, and bad consequences always come but our actions are the definers of how bad or how corrective we could affect these scenarios. In addition, this was my first time using Google Gemini Canvas in order to build a digital literacy game which I believe is truly incredible. It assisted me in formulating the code only right after I drew all the pathways of each scenario.
Thanks for taking time to read the reflection, and play my game. Click on this Link to Play “TimeON” Game.
