I enjoyed playing 6 games 🙂

First game: SPENT

(overthinking, as if i’m carrying something heavy in my brain)

  • How you felt playing the game: At the beginning, i was very confused and was choosing answers without really thinking deeply. However, as i continued playing the game i started feeling that i’m in this persons position.  I was overthinking every decision i make.
  • What you learned playing the game:  I learned a lot of things, but most importantly i learned that i am blessed and should always thank god for the blessings around us. I learned that sometimes during life you’ll have to sacrifice your wants and happiness, just to live. And that our parents do sacrifice A LOT for us. I realized that being in a situation where i would struggle to buy something for children is extremely heartbreaking.
  • One suggestion for improving the game: – more pictures – more options – less questions

Second game: BBC Syrian Refugees

(sympathetic)

  • How you felt playing the game: I felt sympathetic and sad at the same time towards the Syrian refugees. However, i also felt thankful for our country.
  • What you learned playing the game:  I learned how to manage my family’s money. I learned that all your decisions will always have consequences waiting for them, wether it’s long term or short term.
  • One suggestion for improving the game: – this game is completely harsh and extreme, so making it less harsh and more realistic would’ve been more interesting and humane.

Third game: Fake it to Make it

Overcoming Anxiety and Confusion

(confusion)

  • How you felt playing the game: I felt confused and didn’t really understand it.
  • What you learned playing the game:  patience and how to do something good with limited resources.
  • One suggestion for improving the game: – more options and guidance in the game; for example, instructions.

Fourth game: Know yourself

( Eye opening and a bit guilty)

  • How you felt playing the game: I felt that this game was such an eye opener for me. I recalled all the bad situations i was put in because of my assumptions. In addition, i also felt guilty that i based my assumptions or the facts on any situation and didn’t deeply think what the person is actually going through.
  • What you learned playing the game:  simply never assume!
  • One suggestion for improving the game: – more appealing ( pictures, videos, fonts..) – more options

Fifth game: Losing a Parent

( i felt so sad, helpless)

  • How you felt playing the game: I felt sad and helpless. I felt as if something heavy was suddenly on my chest.
  • What you learned playing the game: I learned that not everybody deals the same in losing a parent and that everybody should be approached differently because the moment they are told and the way they are told is a memory and scene they will never forget. Moreover, i learned that crying is not the only way to express grief. We all grief differently and we should respect that.
  • One suggestion for improving the game: – more visions and scenery – less words – more names (makes it more humane and emotional)

sixth game: Factitious

Mixed Feelings – anorak

( Full of mixed feelings)

  • How you felt playing the game: I had a number of mixed feelings towards this game. I was confused at first then i understood it. Once i understood it, it became more interesting, like a challenge.
  • What you learned playing the game:  I actually learned a number of things about newspaper article and how to identify which article is which
  • One suggestion for improving the game: – bigger fonts

Overall reflection:

  • I added a picture to emphasize how i felt about every game after playing it.
  • I really enjoyed playing these games as i feel they played a massive part in my emotions and knowledge at the same time. And that sometimes you need to imagine being through some situations to know how blessed you are. During playing the games i felt extremely sympathetic to the people actually going through, i felt that i want to go help them. Overall, i believe every now and then we need to play these games as they’re eye openers and show us what the real world actually is.
