Academic use:

Current Use: There are already many academic tools powered by AI, such as automated evaluation and reporting systems, plagiarism checkers, as well as various smart learning instructional and management systems which do address the students’ needs and improve the learning process.

Future Use: AI in the foreseeable future could help prepare help in planning time tables, create individual instructional programs or perform a role of a virtual research assistant and help both students and faculty by quickly looking into many sources of information.

Professional Use:

Current Use: AI being employed for predictive analysis using data mining solutions in industries like healthcare, as well as the finance industry to detect fraud and measure risks, and the marketing industry for conducting customer studies, and working with content generation automatically.

Future Use: It won’t be long before AI takes over more higher order thinking tasks for creative industries by content generation, automates more complex decision making and enhances project management by providing realistic AI tools that directs the distribution of management resources and optimizes workflow.

3- I used Ai to help me come up with the questions i asked  the professor and my friend:

Here is the summary of the interview written:

Interviewer: Jana

Interviewee: Rasha El Ibairy global media professor

  1. In what ways do you think AI will transform academic research and teaching methods in media and communication studies?
I think it is already transforming academic research and teaching methods. AUC CLT is giving training to professors on AI tools all the time, and professors in those sessions are reporting using it for various purposes, such as preparing for lectures, puting exams, etc. They are still in doubt about using it in academic research, as most journals detect submissions for AI usage, and also it is difficult to ascertain of the sources AI uses to provide information. While some say, we can ask the AI to provide the sources it is using, others argue that AI comes up with sources that are even non-existent. Also, AI databases are not updated with diverse cultural traditions. One researcher mentioned that when asking AI about Mohamed Ali who ruled Egypt, it came up with Mohamed Ali Klay, the the sports champion.
  1. How do you see AI influencing professional practices in mass communication, especially in areas like journalism, content creation, and audience engagement?
Journalists say they are using AI in their work all the time in content creation, to prepare for stories, get information on the different facets of an issue and also in preparing interview questions for their sources.
  1. What potential do you see for AI in helping media professionals and students develop critical analysis and skills for the future of global media?
AI has a big potential in helping media professionals and students get information that they want, especially that is is now integrated with google, so, if students are googling a topic, google uses AI to get for them. However, there is always this fear or concern that it diminishes their critical thinking abilities. AI can be used only to get information, then students can compare and analyze this information according to the theories they study, as in the Global Media System course for example. Students and professors must realize that they should remain on top of the technology, and use it to get the best our of it without completely depending on it. AI CANNOT do the analysis and critical thinking that humans can do.
4- Interviewing my imc graduate friend :
my friend Sarah Shehab is working in the integrated marketing communication field and she mentions that Ai has played a significant role in improving relevance and engagement through advanced data analysis which helps brands deliver specific audience messages to particular segments. She further adds that ai tools such as chat boxes work as a streamline tool in many companies while predictive analytics are also very important as they help people working in the field help predict trends for a better more wise design making technique. lastly, she mentions that she deeply believes that Ai will takeover the world of communications and marketing as it has the potential to help big companies and platforms maintain a constant and efficient message in making imc job more data driven.
5- Reflection:
Reflecting on the role of Ai in my field, I honestly feel excited yet very nervous as the level that AI brings into personalization and efficiency is very remarkable that by time it can replace the human work.  Im also very cautious about the privacy and ethical issues as Ai uses a vast amount of  personal data to come up with their findings and information. the human touch that people add to this industry may be lost when costumization pushes boundaries. Moreover, I believe that I need to be more cautious and critical about the use of AI in marketing at the moment. I think people need to focus on using AI sensibly before the human touch is completely lost. Im still very excited to see how other brands can efficiently combine AI with human centered design to create something thats very authentic and creative without focusing too much on AI’s work. Overall, IMC is a very exciting field, but people in this industry should prioritize innovation and ethical integrity more.
