AI is one the hottest topics today, everyone wants to know more about it because it is transforming life as we know it. We are all eager to find out what will the future look like with AI.
An important question being asked by many is “What is the best AI tool?”. The answer to this question is quite difficult but we can assess different AI tools through some methods. Some of the most popular AI tools are ChatGPT, Perplexity, Deepseek, and Elicit. These are the four AI tools I will be assessing today.
The first test I put all four tools through is giving the same article to each AI tool and asking it to summarize it for me, here is what I got:
ChatGPT: Good summary, well-written and accurate but it missed some important details that were mentioned in the article.
Perplexity: Very good summary, very well organized dividing the article into points and includes all necessary details but it could be slightly shorter.
Deepseek: Good summary, it focuses on the core message of the article but it is less detailed and had some awkward sentences.
Elicit: Quite poor summary, despite it getting a huge point for providing external sources which non of the other tools did, Elicit failed to convey the main idea behind the article which is climate change impacting cocoa but it instead focused on other factors.
ChatGPT:

Perplexity:

Deepseek:

Elicit:

Other methods that I used to assess these tools are to research a the same topic on each and compared it to the same topic on google scholar and here is what I found:
ChatGPT: Has a huge knowledge bank and is more widely known than the others and it can create anything you ask it for but it is weak in being 100% accurate and it can be biased.
Perplexity: Quite accurate and gives good citations but it often includes too much details.
Deepseek: It is very concise and to the point which is good but has led it to miss some essential information at times.
Elicit: Has a very strong research base providing citations whenever possible but it misses the main point at times and has a very narrow scope.
Overall, each tool has its strengths and weaknesses, it is really up to the user which tool they would like to use. Personally I prefer ChatGPT as it offers a multitude of tools within the website itself and I find it more comfortable than the other tools.
