Ratatouille is an animated movie I’ve personally watched, and it’s one of my favorite movies ever because it’s the first movie I watched as a child that taught me that not everything we hear is true. The movie isn’t just about rats and how people think about them, what they see them as or how they’re described as dirty, disgusting and dangerous, but also about how a whole group can be described in a certain way without that description really applying to every individual. There was this rat Remy, who was different from how rats are usually described. He was creative, talented, passionate about food and sensitive, which shows that not every individual in a group that might be described in a certain way is the same. There can be more to someone like Remy, and there can be more than one Remy too.
Relating it to real life, it also taught me that a description of a group cannot be correct for all individuals and even one description can’t tell us everything about someone. So I realized that not everything I hear from people around me about a specific group is correct, and even if it is, it can never apply to everyone in that group. There’s always more stories about a group or person behind that one story people talk about.

Very useful information written. I totally agree that what we hear from people is often not correct and that not all members of one group can be thought of the same way because everyone is different. But there are also groups where people are strictly the same and they act the same.
