Never Have I Ever is a series on Netflix that I have personally watched. It is one of my favorite shows because it taught things related to traditions, cultures, and values. This show is about an Indian-American Teenager, her name is Devi and she lives in the U.S. Devi is a girl who experienced two different cultures American and Indian. For this reason, before I watch this show I thought that the Indian culture was strict and very traditional. However, when I watched the show it showed me that someone can be connected to their culture while also having their own lifestyle. Such as, personality, friendships, problems, and goals. Overall, Devi in Never Have I Ever made me realize that one story cannot accurately represent everyone from a certain culture. Also, I learned that I have to be careful about misunderstanding people based on what I see, what I think, and what I hear.

I really like how you explained that Never Have I Ever shows how someone can connect with their culture while still having their own personality and lifestyle. It reminded me that we sometimes make assumptions about cultures based on stereotypes without understanding the people themselves.
I really liked your example as it shows how one person’s experience like this character Devi in Never Have I Ever, can change the beliefs we have about an entire culture. It made me realize that traditions don’t really define someone’s whole personality or lifestyle, and I agree that it’s important to get to know people instead of judging them based on what we hear or think about their culture. Do you think watching shows about different cultures like this show can help people avoid judging others based on stereotypes?
