Hello guys! I am writing this to tell you what quotes I found interesting in the article on identity:

  • “Africans are not defined by language, boundaries, or geography but rather a ‘common history, binding values, and a common destiny.”
  • “Identifying as an Arab does not prevent one from also identifying as an African. Africa is diverse, and we should celebrate that, instead of putting a label on what an African is.”

These two quotes stood out to me for the meanings behind them. The first one explains how Africans are all connected by their history, struggles, and values. The other quotes is more specific on the Arabs by talking on how Africa is diverse and part of it is Arabs. I like this quote because I always get frustrated when people say that I am not African and that I am only Arab. Hence, that can be a reasonable response to them.
