My Ikigai
For my Ikigai, I wrote down what I love, what I’m good at, what the world needs, Here’s how it looks for me:
-
What I love: building real connections, cooking, listening to music, and enjoying time alone sometimes.
-
What I’m good at: listening, helping friends, remembering details, and looking after people close to me.
-
What the world needs: more kindness, empathy, and understanding between people.
Ikigai is a Japanese word that means “reason for being.” It’s about finding purpose by looking at four things: what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs, and what you can get paid for. As for the VIA survey (Values in Action) it is a test that shows your strongest personal values or character strengths. for example are fairness, honesty, love, or kindness. It’s basically about what guides the way you act with people. For me, my Ikigai feels like a mix of the small things i’m good at and the values i really care about i believe i have always been a good listener, someone who helps friends, remembers details, and looks after the people close to me. I love building real connections, cooking, listening to music, and sometimes just enjoying time alone. i believe the world really needs more kindness, empathy, and understanding between people. Putting all of this together, my Ikigai points me toward a therapeutic path because listening, caring, and connecting with others is what matter to me the most.
For the game ideas i asked ChatGPT to generate ideas and here is the chat.
This is the prompt : “Given my Ikigai and my character strengths, what are 2-3 game concepts I could develop that feel meaningful and aligned with me?”
1. “Echoes of Kindness” 🌱 (Narrative/Choice-based Game)
-
Core Idea: Players navigate through everyday social situations (school, family, work) and make choices that impact others. The game rewards fairness, honesty, and forgiveness over power or dominance.
-
Mechanics:
-
Dialogue choices that reflect honesty or empathy.
-
Relationship growth tracked by how fairly you treat different characters.
-
“Gratitude moments” where players stop to reflect on positive events.
-
-
Why it fits you: It mirrors your love for real connections, fairness, and valuing relationships.
2. “The Listening Tree” 🌳 (Therapeutic/Puzzle-Exploration Game)
-
Core Idea: You play as a magical tree that listens to villagers’ worries. By listening and offering small words of kindness, you help them heal and solve their problems.
-
Mechanics:
-
Puzzle-solving by piecing together villagers’ stories.
-
Players “grow branches” when they show empathy and understanding.
-
Visual progression: the tree flourishes as you show gratitude and forgiveness.
-
-
Why it fits you: It combines your gift of listening and caring for others with your Ikigai’s “therapeutic” core.
3. “Bridges Between Us” 🌉 (Co-op / Social Game)
-
Core Idea: A cooperative game where players from different backgrounds must build literal and metaphorical bridges to connect their worlds.
-
Mechanics:
-
Players face conflicts that can only be solved by negotiation and fairness.
-
Shared tasks (building, repairing, supporting) that require trust and honesty.
-
Gratitude/forgiveness tokens unlock stronger connections.
-
-
Why it fits you: It speaks to your belief in empathy, kindness, and understanding between people.
Out of the three ideas, i feel most passionate about Bridges Between Us. It stands out to me because it focuses on cooperation, fairness, and empathy, which connect directly to both my Ikigai and my VIA strengths. i like the idea of people from different backgrounds working together, solving conflicts, and finding common ground. Even though i might not end up choosing it as my game topic, however i really like how the idea of the game reflects my Ikigai and VIA strengths, and how the process showed me that a game can grow naturally out of who i am and what i value. At the same time, i feel like the AI ideas were just a starting point, and if i am making a game right now i would want to keep prompting again to get something more creative and closer to my own vision. The AI helped me see connections, but i know i would still want to shape the final game idea myself.

I appreciate your explanation of this process and the fact that you want to create a game yourself! You mentioned your strong attention to detail; I think this would be a good element to incorporate into a game, such as a memory test or having to recall small details of a person’s life to build bridges, since it highlights your strengths and adds an element of challenge. Good luck!
