Ai literacy final reflection part 1:
Planning to enroll in Core 2096-02? Consider this the secret ingredient that’ll seal the deal for you!
This semester’s AI Literacy course was an adventure that not only expanded my mind but also made me feel deeply connected to the class in ways I didn’t expect. One of the things that made it so special was how open and personal many of the students were. It wasn’t just about discussing academic topics—it often felt like a space where people shared parts of themselves, their struggles, and their ideas in a way that made the class feel almost like a therapy session at times. That openness created a really comfortable environment where I felt safe to express my own thoughts, and it made me look forward to each session, knowing that I’d be learning both about AI and about the people around me.
A class like no other: where learning meets personal connection.
Another unexpected gift from the class was the friendships I made. And this is from a shy person that doesn’t make friends easily. I connected with classmates who shared similar interests and perspectives, and it was like getting a bonus takeaway from the course—people I could rely on, both for classwork and just for meaningful conversation. These connections made the experience feel richer and more rewarding.
From classmates to friends—sometimes the best part of a course is who you meet along the way.
On top of all this, the course itself was full of engaging activities. One of the highlights was when we played a simulation about Syrian refugees. It wasn’t just a game; it was an eye-opening experience that really made me feel what it might be like to face such difficult decisions. It helped me understand global issues on a deeper level.
Not just a game: stepping into the shoes of others for a deeper understanding.
Another memorable project was designing a game about eating disorders with a classmate. It wasn’t just about building a game; it was about using creativity to tackle a serious topic in a way that could teach others. It felt rewarding to know that we were sharing an important message through something interactive and fun.
Turning tough topics into learning opportunities: a creative challenge that made an impact.
Creating my (ALCTV) was also a great experience. It was my one of my first assignments , and I loved how it allowed me to be creative while diving into a topic that mattered to me and made me rethink all my life decisions and successes. It really set the tone for the rest of the course and made me excited for every new challenge.
Creative expression meets critical thinking: the perfect recipe for a meaningful project.
If I could suggest any improvements, I’d love to have more detailed feedback on assignments, so I could better understand what I did well and where I could improve. Adding more interactive activities, like AI simulations or team-based projects, would also make the course even more dynamic. Finally, more flexible scheduling for group sessions would help everyone participate without worrying about timing conflicts.
What could make a great course even better? A few small tweaks could go a long way.
This course isn’t just for people interested in AI—it’s for anyone looking to think critically, connect with others, and explore how technology shapes our world. It’s not just about learning; it’s about growing, making connections, and discovering new perspectives. If you’re looking for a course that’s engaging, educational, and even a little therapeutic, I highly recommend giving it a try!
