Step 1:

Step 2:Article Reflection:
From reading the article, I came to understand that digital literacy was more centered on critical thinking and making thoughtful decisions about when and why to use technology and less about knowing how a tool operates. Teaching digital literacy encourages one to learn to understand technology in a real-world context. Thus, being digitally literate is far more significant than knowing how to perform specific tasks. With the current level of skills, I am confident in using technology to perform tasks that I am familiar with, but I realize the need to learn new skills to help me handle unfamiliar tasks.
Step 3:Taught Path
Connecting and Collaborating:
I am good at using digital tools for effective communication and collaboration. It’s not just the use of platforms; I know how to capitalize on them to build relationships and express my thoughts clearly, making digital interactions feel meaningful
Learning and Reflecting:
I am confident in my ability to use technology to learn about new ideas and a deeper understanding. I know how to find the information and process it in a manner that will enhance my learning.
Navigating the Digital World:
I am competent and capable of finding information from the internet and using this information effectively and responsibly to accomplish tasks with ease.
Where I Can Grow
Mastering New Tools:
There are a few digital tools that I have not yet explored, and I know that the more I learn about them, the more efficient and adaptable I will be. I want to feel confident using the tools that I am not yet a master of.
Creative Exploration:
While I can create with technology, I often hold back from pushing boundaries or exploring bold, new ideas. I want to step out of my comfort zone and embrace more creativity, experimenting with innovative approaches to digital projects.
Digital Wellness and Identity:
I’m comfortable managing my online presence, but I know there’s room to grow in creating a healthier relationship with technology. I aim to ensure my digital spaces align with my values and well-being.
My Goals
Become a Tool Wizard:
I plan to dive into new tutorials and online courses that will familiarize me with tools I barely use, such as advanced spreadsheets or graphic design programs. I want to really expand my digital toolkit so that I can feel unstoppable against any task.
Free My Creativity:
I want to start experimenting with different forms of digital creation—whether it’s blogging, video-making, or graphic design. I’m excited to push my creative boundaries and make technology a canvas for my ideas.
Find Balance in the Digital World:
I will take the time to reflect on how I am showing up online and strive to balance my screen time with activities that rejuvenate me. Mindfulness tools, along with setting boundaries, will support me in sustaining a digital life that aligns with my personal goals.
Empower Others:
I look forward to sharing my communication and collaboration skills in supporting others in becoming confident in using technology. Whether it is providing support or teaching new skills, I want to use my strengths in making a positive impact.
By embracing these goals, I will enhance not only my digital abilities but also make my approach to technology more creative, reflective, and balanced in my life.
Step 3:
First: Smartphones
The module on the smartphone was very interesting because it showed the fundamentals of smartphones that are usually overlooked. It was a revelation to understand how such devices are designed to be friendly for all users, regardless of their technical background. Looking at the internal composition and understanding how smartphones work was a revelation. However, most of the content sounded and felt somewhat familiar to me since I have been using technology from my childhood, starting with my first iPod. As such, the quiz at the end was rather simple, and I was able to score 100% with ease.
Second Module Cybersecurity:
I found the cybersecurity module very informative and am quite glad I decided to look into it. It really opened my eyes as to how vulnerable we all are in this digital world. The most astonishing fact was that, in 2015, more than one million cyber attacks occurred every day. What impressed me most was how human error is the source of many cyber threats. This made me reflect on the rising significance of automation in security, given that mistakes are one of the major factors behind attacks like phishing; automation can thus play a key role in preventing them. After going through this module, I now understand the importance of being cautious online and safeguarding my personal information against scams. Automation tools, such as password managers, were touted as lifesavers for people who have a hard time remembering passwords or who use the same password across multiple platforms. This module really made me think that cybersecurity education should be a requirement for anyone using the internet. Unawareness could lead to dangerous consequences like identity theft, and that requires being well-informed regarding the lurking risks online.
Reflection:
At first, the assignment felt difficult and confusing, and I wasn’t sure how or where to get started. But as I looked deeper into the topic, I found some really interesting and surprising information that made it much more enjoyable. The more I explored, the more I realized how much there was to learn. If I had more time, I would have liked to try a few assignments from the tinkering pathway, as I think they would have helped me understand things better in a hands-on way. I plan to use what I learned in this assignment in real life, applying it to solve problems and improve my skills.
