Welcome to the final chapter in the development of Sleep Quest, a learning-oriented game designed to address sleep problems in an engaging and meaningful way. Over the course of its creation, Sleep Quest evolved significantly based on feedback, personal experience, discussions with friends and family and lessons learned during the process.
Sleep Quest
Sleep Quest gets players in relatable scenarios that teach the importance of a good sleep attitude . The game features diverse challenges, from managing distractions to tackling jet lag, each with interactive choices that lead to varied consequences. Players not only learn to improve their sleep but also develop a deeper understanding of sleep science .
Feedback
In the early drafts, the game focused on technology-related sleep problems. Feedback from early players of my initial posts revealed a need for broader scenarios. As a result, I expanded the game to. And my colleagues mentioned that i need “What to expect next, Visuals, Pictures, Info explanation after choice”.
What I Would Have Done Differently
If I had more time, I would have loved to Develop Dynamic Animations, like Adding animated sequences to depict the outcomes of each choice could make the game even more engaging, I would’ve needed it from my computer science and engineering friends obviously.
valuable lessons include:
Empathy : Making the game relatable and empathetic was key to its impact. Feedback from others reminded me that sleep challenges vary widely and require diverse solutions.
Feedback: getting feedback helped me design a game that resonates with a broader audience.
Accessibility: Ensuring the game is accessible to players of all abilities is as important as its content. The use of resources like contrast checkers was a game-changer.
Educational Games Can Be Fun: Combining meaningful learning with interactivity ensures players are both informed and entertained.
