For my final project i created a game called “Temporary goodbyes” The game is meant to reflect my life growing up dealing with having to constantly move between countries due to my fathers diplomatic career. The player will experience repeated relocation, temporary friends, loneliness, fear of attachment and struggling with a sense of belonging.

The game is designed with branching paths with each action effecting the players levels of trust, confidence and loneliness. I attempted to make as many choices as possible and make try to make it as real of an experience as possible.

For this final draft i decided to try and make it more emotional so that the player can relate to the experience and make it feel more realistic, since after replaying the first one i felt it was to simple and straightforward with few branching paths and only a single character other then the player.

I also used Google Gemini to modify the design of the game since i didn’t like the basic look.

If i had more time i would probably make the story more in depth and create more branching storylines, possibly even add more characters and character portraits, i’d also make the stats influence the dialogue way more and have it lock out the player from some choices.

While making the game i learned how truly difficult it is to make a game, as a person who enjoys playing games i never realized story telling could be this hard, i spent a while drafting ideas from my experiences and mixing them together to try and come up with a story that would be able to reflect my experience accurately to those playing it. I also learned how dialogue can really affect the atmosphere of the game as it was something i didn’t even consider in the first draft.
